Arena Racing Company (“ARC”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Philip Hide as a trainee Clerk of the Course at Fontwell Park and Brighton Racecourses.  Philip will commence his new role on Monday 29 October.

A former professional National Hunt jockey, Philip rode over 400 winners in a career spanning 19 years, including over 80 winners at Fontwell Park.  During his successful career as a flat trainer, Philip saddled 18 winners at Brighton, most recently Archimento in May this year.

In addition to his time as both a jockey and trainer, Philip has undertaken other varied roles within the racing industry, including a spell as a Council Member of the Professional Jockeys Association. Philip will train with ARC Regional Clerk of the Course Charlie Moore before undertaking full BHA accreditation in due course.

ARC Director of Racing Jon Pullin commented, “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Philip onto the team, and for him to undertake his Clerk of the Course training with us. His long term and wide-ranging experience in the racing industry, particularly at Fontwell Park and Brighton, will no doubt be of huge benefit to both racecourses and to ARC as a whole.

Philip Hide commented, “I have been lucky to have enjoyed a long riding career as well as my time as a Trainer, but I am excited about the opportunity to train as a Clerk of the Course and then to taking charge of the racing at both Brighton and Fontwell; two courses I know well.
