Brighton Racecourse Statement - 8 October

08 October 2019

Following an issue in the local area, Brighton Racecourse has been experiencing low water pressure throughout this morning, effecting all areas of the site.

With horse welfare a priority, the team have been working incredibly hard this morning to make sure that there are adequate supplies of water on site to complement the lower pressure from the mains supply to the stable yard and other equine areas of the racecourse.  We have been supported in this by colleagues from both Fontwell Park and Lingfield Park Racecourses as well as Southern Water, who have supplied water containers and bowsers.

With regards the public areas of the racecourse, we have this morning sourced extra temporary toilet facilities and amended our bar and restaurant operations to make sure that they run as efficiently as possible throughout the afternoon.

Southern Water Engineers are currently on site and working hard to fix the issue and return normal pressure to both the Racecourse and the local area.

We would, of course, like to apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause anyone coming to Brighton this afternoon, but we are very grateful for all the support and understanding from racegoers, racing staff, jockeys and officials in making sure that we are in a position to continue racing.

We will offer a further update as and when the situation improves.
